FINAL DECISION: Unrealistic and simplistic in many ways, but I enjoyed this easy and short read. More impression than full story, this was an okay one time read.THE STORY: Lord Alexander Stirling was made the guardian of a fifteen year old girl, sent her to a boarding school and promptly forgot about her. Years later, that ward, Amanda Fullerton has come to London to confront Alex and demand that she be recognized. Alex is shocked by Amanda who isn't the demur young woman he expects.OPINION: This is a easy and uncomplicated read. The characters are written in broad strokes, their relationship is mostly drama without much emotional depth. This isn't one of the complicated romances that I love, but I still thought this book was okay.Some books are meant to be complicated journeys and some can be enjoyable popcorn that can be read in a quick manner and then put aside. This book is that second type. I enjoyed the quick and dirty story with plenty of heat between the characters. Once the book was done, I put is aside. There wasn't really much to the story beyond the blurb description, but that was okay because I knew what I was getting.In many ways, this book is like a novella that is focused on the broad outlines of the story.WORTH MENTIONING: This book has a lot of sexual activity, but no full sexual consummation.CONNECTED BOOKS: OBSESSION is the second book in the Regency Lovers series. This book can be read as a standalone although there are overlapping characters from the first book.STAR RATING: I give this book 2.5 stars.

It would have been more enjoyable, if the heroine didn't break down in tears every time she felt her feelings hurt. Alex was the typical male,but Amanda just got on my nerves with her constant tearing up. Alex never promised her anything, yet knowing what kind of man he was, she seemed to take it for granted that they were meant to be together. Amanda seemed that she was going to be one of those feisty young women whose bickering with the hero hid a secret attraction which it did, but she would be forever crying and sniffling if Alex even looked at another woman! If Alex was my man, I would have pulled all the stops to win him for myself,not spending it crying and boohoing in my room. I love Carole Mortimer, but this book's heroine really took the cake. I actually liked the interaction between Alex and Miss Marchment! Better chemistry.

Great story line, I like the characters the story was written very well. Also, interesting. If you are looking for a good book.

No complaints from me about this book! It reads as a novella, but I have found it holds my interest much better than a thick over plotted NOVEL. The characters are very well defined and loveable .

It was good story. I really liked the twist on the how the previous mistress coming back to do more damage.

All of Carole's books are really great!

I loved the characters, cared about them. Wonderfully modern, while maintaining the Regency standards.

As I stated previously, after reading Carole Mortimer’s book Craving, I had to read Indecent, then I had to read this book Obsession. Well to say I am a little obsessed with these books is an understatement. I read this book immediately (same day) after I read Indecent. It was nice to read about Alex (who was mentioned in Indecent) and Amanda. This book had steam, but also love and caring. I would recommend reading this book, but I would also recommend reading all three books. I cannot wait for the next book
