Salad for President suggests salad for the people, but this book is anything but. Umeboshi plums, pomegranate molasses, golden beets, labneh, myoga flowers, bee pollen (?)—these recipes are for coastal elites with access to thousands of unique shops and not those of us in flyover country. I hate that generalization, btw, but unfortunately it fits here. This book seethes pretention; even the comfort food salads are ridiculously esoteric.I love cookbooks because they are just as much cultural history as recipe book. This artisty culture, however, I want nothing to do with.

How did I get to age 37 (many of those years as a vegan no less!) and not know that one should marinate cauliflower in olive oil for a few hours before roasting it? This book has tons of surprising yet obvious tricks for making delicious food and that is exactly the way cooking should be. And even if you don't feel like making salad you can enjoy photos of greens and read about artists' practices, which is better than...I don't know, looking at your phone? Scrolling through instagram? It's a gorgeous book and I feel healthy and inspired just looking at it.

This book is fantastic & the photos are amazing. I am so inspired by the interviews with artists and, of course, the recipes! I have been eating much more salad since reading the book- and I love it! I check cookbooks out of the library constantly but am glad I have this one in my permanent collection.

Wonderful, creative ideas for meal and side salads. Be aware that some of the recipes will make you want to start growing unusual greens from seed! My only critique is that the artist profiles are a bit overlong, especially in the Kindle edition where you can't quickly turn pages.

this salad cookbook is so beautiful and so inspiring. when it arrived in the mail i excitedly looked through it for at least an hour. the recipes are amazing and i love just looking at the graphic design and beautiful photos!!

This was a lot bigger and more aesthetically pleasing than I even imagined! I sent it to my best friend for Christmas and she loved it. I might have to buy a copy for myself.

A wonderful book of restauranteurs that have built cuisine foundations for decades to come. Lovely tribute to Alice Waters. And, the salad recipes are easy to follow!
